Update
The following was received Saturday, 12th Feb 2000 from the camp. It looks as though Stancliffe are up to more than we thought...
Just a quick update on what's 'appenin' this end:
The meeting between Stancliffe Stone and the Peak Park to determine the fate of Lees Cross is now on the 16th March. A site visit by the Peak Park / Stancliffe Stone is also on the morning of 16th March. So a show of strength on our protest site on that day is wise.
Stancliffe Stone also want to open more quarries on Stanton Moor (applications submitted) and make a haulage route for wagons across the moor. So we have a lot more on our hands than just stopping Lees Cross and Endcliffe quarries. [see website for more about this - will post maps of other proposed quarries and haul route when available.]
We have opened a new camp at Endcliffe which we hope to develop into a visitors' camp with plenty of space for people to stay (tipi) so more help of any sort is needed there!
We will also set up a stall with all new information at the forthcoming benefit gig on 26th Feb at Raffles Wine Bar, with Gorger and Phat Baba Dub. Another benefit gig is planned for March in Derby with The Bus Station Loonies headlining, so see ya there!
