Folk-Lore of East Anglia

Folk-Lore of East Anglia by Nigel Pennick

Wednesday 23rd August 2006, at 7:30pm
Talk, book signing, and a cup of tea

We are delighted to welcome Nigel back to the shop to talk about and sign copies of his latest book: Folk-Lore of East Anglia and adjoining counties. It's probably fair to say that Nigel Pennick needs no introduction, but just in case... He is the author of forty-eight books on the European traditions of: spirituality, architecture, craftmanship, topography and folk-lore.

His latest book explores aspects of East Anglian local identity; the altering landscape and its dwindling wildlife; patterns on the landscape, real & imagined; the lore of roads & transport; and the characteristic food & drink of East Anglia, with rare recipes for local delicacies to be cooked at the right season and enjoyed anew.

Standing Room Only

Standing Room Only: despite the pouring rain, we had our largest crowd ever!

Nigel Holds Forth: with his sharp delivery, Nigel endeavours to cram a 90,000 word book into a 30 minute talk. Note the plate of Yarmouth biscuits (recipe on p173), baked by Ann Pennick.

A Glass of Wine: how else to celebrate the launch of a new book?
